Don Beyer represents Virginia's 8th Congressional District — which includes Arlington, Fairfax, Alexandria, and Falls Church — in the U.S. House of Representatives, having first been sworn in January 2015. Before Congress, Beyer served as Lieutenant Governor of Virginia from 1990 to 1998 and as U.S. Ambassador to Switzerland under President Obama. He sits on the House Ways and Means Committee and the Joint Economic Committee, and is well known for his work on tax policy, climate and clean energy, and gun violence prevention.
